Why Are My Windows Left Wet After Professional Cleaning?

The brush has stopped, the team has packed up—and there are still droplets on the glass. Here is why that can be normal, and what to check once your windows dry.

Yes—windows can be left wet after a completed pure-water clean. Yellow Wash brushes and rinses exterior windows with a water-fed pole and deionized water. The glass is then left to dry naturally. Droplets alone do not mean the cleaning is unfinished; the useful check is how the glass looks after it dries. [1]

Why purified water can be left on the glass

Ordinary tap water contains dissolved minerals. When droplets evaporate, those minerals can remain as spots. Deionization removes dissolved mineral ions from the cleaning water, reducing the residue left behind. That is why a properly brushed and rinsed window can dry naturally without a final squeegee pass. [1]

This is the method used in our dedicated exterior window-cleaning service for homes in Halifax, Dartmouth, Bedford and surrounding HRM communities. It is a different finish process from washing with ordinary tap water and then removing that water with a squeegee.

Brush → rinse → dry: what happens at each stage

Brush the exterior glass

1Brush

The brush loosens ordinary surface dirt from the exterior glass.

Rinse the glass with purified water

2Rinse

Purified water carries away the loosened dirt. Droplets remain.

Allow the glass to dry naturally

3Dry naturally

Leave the glass to air-dry, then check the finished result.

The rinse matters as much as the brushing. Water quality, clean equipment and cleaning the frames before the glass all affect the result. Dirty runoff from a frame can leave marks on glass that was already cleaned. [2]

Should I wipe the windows dry?

Leave the exterior glass to dry naturally first. There is no need to follow the crew with a cloth or hose. In particular, rinsing it again with ordinary tap water can reintroduce the minerals the purified-water process avoids. [1]

There is no single drying time to promise for every home. A shaded window on a cool Halifax morning may dry differently from a sunny, exposed pane. Check the glass when the remaining droplets have gone, rather than setting a timer or judging it while wet.

What should I check after the glass dries?

What you noticeWhat to do
Water droplets are still visibleWait until that pane is dry before assessing it. Wet and dry sections are difficult to compare.
A spot, streak or run remains on the dry exteriorTake one photo showing the whole window and one closer photo of the mark. Tell us which window it is so we can review it.
Fingerprints or smudges are on the room-facing surfaceExterior cleaning does not include the inside glass. Check which side has the mark before reporting it.
A stubborn mark was there before the visitPoint it out when requesting the quote. Ask whether it is part of routine cleaning or needs a separate assessment; do not assume every stain will wash away.

A dry mark is worth reporting. Do not assume that every spot will disappear later simply because purified water was used. Residue, contamination and technique can affect the finish. [2] We can review the window and the agreed scope with you. Take photos from a safe, accessible position; there is no need to climb outside to inspect it.

What is included in Yellow Wash window cleaning?

Our dedicated residential service includes exterior window glass, sills, frames and exposed tracks. Screen cleaning is free when the screens have been removed before the team arrives. Let us know in advance if you cannot remove them safely or if access is restricted.

Before your visit, identify any damaged windows or existing marks you want assessed, close the windows, and clear accessible items from the work area. Mention anything that could affect access when you request your quote.

Is the window rinse in a house wash the same service?

A Yellow Wash house wash includes a light rinse of exterior window glass. That is often sufficient for the glass as part of washing the house, but dedicated window cleaning provides a more thorough finish through its separate brushing and purified-water rinse. If glass clarity is your main priority, choose the window-cleaning service when requesting your quote.
